Not much has been happening though. Winter term is going pretty well. My schedule is pretty cake, and I get to sleep in monday-thursday. Friday I have to wake up really early for an 8 am weight management lab (boo!) but I really can't complain considering my schedule the rest of the week. I'm really liking my art classes this term. I'm taking an introduction to art course, which is really interesting. The prof is super funny and entertaining, and it's kind of reinforcing concepts I'm learning in my studio courses. My studio course for this term is great. It's already really challenging, but I can tell I'm going to learn a bunch. Last term I took a photoshop course and this term I'm learning how to use Illustrator and InDesign. The things I'm learning are really neat.

Tomorrow afternoon I have my final interview for an internship I'm applying for. If I get it, I would run my own business this summer back home. I would manage a crew of painters. My job would be to advertise and book jobs, and also to supervise my crew. I wouldn't be painting at all, and I would pay no money out of pocket. The company College Works Painting funds everything, so all I can do is make money. It would be lots and lots and lots of hard work it, but if I do a good job I will make lots of money. Kids that I've talked to who did it last summer made anywhere from $8,000 to $16,500, plus bonuses and fun rewards. They had their awards ceremony in Cancun...! How fun would that be? Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for me. It's a really competitive application process, and it's pretty cool that I've made it so far.

Anyway, I'm back into the school routine so I'm sure I will post more often. Have a great weekend!

ratboy

Well, I'm pretty positive that this is living under our sink. A few weeks ago we started hearing some strange noises coming from the kitchen. After listening closely, we decided that it was coming from under our sink. Just a mouse...we hope. As we kept listening, it sounded much bigger than a mouse. It was rifling through our garbage. We could hear it. It sounded like it had hands and one day I could HEAR chewing. There were bite marks taken out of a styrofoam leftover container. It COULD NOT be just a mouse. For a while, I was sure there was a homeless person under there. We found leaves and dirt from outside. It was a little scary staying home alone, knowing that you really WEREN'T alone. We finally had Al the do it all man come over and check it out. He says it's just a mouse...we still think it's something more. Fortunately, he got some poison for us and hopefully it solves the problem!

oh yeah...Halloween part 2

I found this gem at the Good Will in Albany. I don't really know yet. I reeeeeeeeeeally want to go trick-or-treating but I probably wont be able to get anyone to go with me. We'll see though. I still haven't decided what I'm going to be yet. For a while I wanted to be a gladiator (any excuse to wear a cape and carry a sword) but I'm not sure if I will be able to pull it together. I found a gladiator costume at the halloween store, but...I'm broke! So I will have to make something up from scratch. I'm getting so desperate that I'm honestly contemplating just throwing a sheet over my head, cutting some eye holes out, and calling it good. It's so classic. Vintage if you will. Anyway, I'm going to Good Will with Tucker tomorrow to help him find stuff to finish his costume (Ash from Army of Darkness) so I might stumble across some useful materials of my own. We shall see!

P.S. I had to hike all over campus to get business cards from various buildings. It's a stupid assignment for Art 100, just had to get proof that we went to all of these places. Here is a glimpse at my class schedule:

Monday- at noon I have Introduction to Cultural Anthropology for an hour. Every monday is a video lecture... that I could get online, so I don't really have to go...but I do. Then I have a huge break and I go back at 5 pm for a Digital Imaging course. This will definately be beneficial in the long run. We are learning the ins and outs of photoshop.

Tuesday- I wake up bright and early for class at 9 am! This is an Art Foundations class. It's a studio course so we do a lot of hands on work. It goes from 9-11:50. It's super long. This will probably be my most challenging class. I'm not super familiar with just regular old art...so we will see how it goes. At noon I go to Women's Studies. My professor is from England so it's fun to listen to her lecutre. That class goes from 12-1:20. Then at 2 I have modern dance!!!! Need I say more? Right now we are just working on some technical stuff with french names that I can't remember. I will let you know when I am on So You Think You Can Dance.

Wednesday- Basically the exact same as monday. In anthropology every wednesday we watch a film....that I can find online...but I still go. And also, I have the lab portion of my digital imaging class from 6-7:50.

Thursday- is exactly the same as tuesday.

Friday- At 9 I have my Art Orientation class, which introduces students to the art program and also to OSU in general. Then at noon I have anthropology again. We have an in class discussion and homework is due so I actually have to show up to this one haha.

Monday and wednesdays I want to take a Book of Mormon class at the institute...I just need to register.

So, that's my schedule in a nutshell. Things have been going pretty well classwise. I've been getting my homework done and getting to class on time. None of my classes are super intense, but the workload is much different from high school. Not that I was expecting it to be easy, but it's taking some effort to jump start my brain after that 4 month summer vacation.

Our apartment is doing good. We are doing a pretty good job of keeping it clean. It will get a little messy during the week, but it doesnt take long to drive me crazy and it gets cleaned up. The weather has been a little wet lately, but that can only be expected. Not much else has been going on in my life. I have been meeting quite a few people, and overall my college experience is a success thus far! We'll see how long it lasts...ha.

*Side note- I made fried chicken and mashed potatoes tonight for dinner! We usually make dinner every night, but I was feeling extra ambitious. It turned out really well! It totally hit the spot. The only downside is that we don't have a potato masher...so I have to use a whisk haha. As you can imagine...it's not the best house hold tool to mash potatoes.

7 facts about moi

7 Random and weird facts about me:

1. I would probably drink gravy as a beverage if society didn't frown upon such a thing.

2. I really, really, really, REALLY dislike fat redheaded children. I think normal red headed children are absolutely adorable...but for some reason when they are fat they just remind me of spoiled little pigs who would steal your candy bar and then not fess up to it...even when their faces are covered in chocolate.

3. I eat string cheese everyday.

4. I have a phobia of middle aged men that I don't know. They make me feel incredibly uncomfortable.

5. If everything was bbq flavored...I wouldn't complain.

6. I constantly sweep our kitchen floor because I hate when crumbs get stuck to the bottom of my feet.

7. I hate when people get offended when other people talk about them behind their back. Chances are you've done your share of gossiping about them. And as long as they are still polite to your face...why do you care? Everyone is entitled to their personal opinions, and if they aren't spreading nasty lies, you should just get over it.

aaaaand I don't know of seven people to tag so I'm just gonna skip that part.

Some pictures from the game

Here are a few pictures from the game (they are a little out of order...but you can figure it out). For a while we were mooching it off our neighbors, but I think they realized what we were doing and kicked us off. Haha...oh well. The comcast guys came and set us up, so now I will have internet access all hours of the day and I can blog until I drop. Except probably not. Anyway, I will just catch everyone up on what has been going on for the past few weeks.

Tucker and Dustin made a few trips up and hung out with Caitlin and I while looking for a place to live. They found a place and now we get to hang out all the time.

I went back home last week to hang out for a bit. We were suppose to go to the round up but never actually went. There isn't much for people under 21, and we don't really have money for all of the alluring booths and attractions.

We came back on sunday and have pretty much just been hanging out since. Tucker, Dustin, Leonard, Caitlin, and I all took a day trip to the coast on wednesday. It was cold but not too windy and we all had a blast. We walked on the beach for a while then went and got some grub at The Chowder Bowl. I always love a good road trip, and since the coast is so close it was perfect. We listened to music and told stories and just had an all around good time. I posted a few pictures up top.

As for next week, I will just be getting ready for school to start. I'm a little nervous. Mostly just scared that I will get horrible grades and not learn anything. But I'm excited to have something to do and a reason to get out of bed every morning. That will be nice. My life is pretty boring lately, but we've been doing good. We've been keeping out aparmtent clean and staying out of trouble. Well, that's all I have for now. I will update when I have something worthwhile to talk about.

And the crowd goes wild...

Alas, the time has come for my first, real life blogging experience. I write this at 4 in the morning because I can't sleep. I am back at home in Eastern Oregon and I find myself restless. A friend just dropped me off, something my mother probably doesn't appreciate, but oh well.

First and foremost, I am here at this very moment on behalf of my ever so thoughtful sister Sarah who, out of the goodness of her heart, set up this account for me...:) Gee, thanks sis. I write half begrudgingly...but in the end if it makes her happy, why not?

On to the second order of business. Well, I haven't any.

I feel too much like an online creeper blogging at 4 in the morning, so I'll end it here. I hope everyone who's anyone reads this. Because like I always say, Go big or go home. Ok, so I never say that, but shhh. Goodnight infoweb.
