This little piggie went to college...

Location: Corvallis, Oregon

I am lazy, yet quick witted. Could usually care less about the problems of the world, but probably one of the first to volunteer to help. I still aspire to be a figure skater.

Halloween part 1

Sarah asked what I had planned for halloween. I don't really know yet. I reeeeeeeeeeally want to go trick-or-treating but I probably wont be able to get anyone to go with me. We'll see though. I still haven't decided what I'm going to be yet. For a while I wanted to be a gladiator (any excuse to wear a cape and carry a sword) but I'm not sure if I will be able to pull it together. I found a gladiator costume at the halloween store, but...I'm broke! So I will have to make something up from scratch. I'm getting so desperate that I'm honestly contemplating just throwing a sheet over my head, cutting some eye holes out, and calling it good. It's so classic. Vintage if you will. Anyway, I'm going to Good Will with Tucker tomorrow to help him find stuff to finish his costume (Ash from Army of Darkness) so I might stumble across some useful materials of my own. We shall see!

P.S. I had to hike all over campus to get business cards from various buildings. It's a stupid assignment for Art 100, just had to get proof that we went to all of these places. I'm pooped!

I suppose you are all itching to know..

...about how college is going so far! Here is a glimpse at my class schedule:

Monday- at noon I have Introduction to Cultural Anthropology for an hour. Every monday is a video lecture... that I could get online, so I don't really have to go...but I do. Then I have a huge break and I go back at 5 pm for a Digital Imaging course. This will definately be beneficial in the long run. We are learning the ins and outs of photoshop.

Tuesday- I wake up bright and early for class at 9 am! This is an Art Foundations class. It's a studio course so we do a lot of hands on work. It goes from 9-11:50. It's super long. This will probably be my most challenging class. I'm not super familiar with just regular old art...so we will see how it goes. At noon I go to Women's Studies. My professor is from England so it's fun to listen to her lecutre. That class goes from 12-1:20. Then at 2 I have modern dance!!!! Need I say more? Right now we are just working on some technical stuff with french names that I can't remember. I will let you know when I am on So You Think You Can Dance.

Wednesday- Basically the exact same as monday. In anthropology every wednesday we watch a film....that I can find online...but I still go. And also, I have the lab portion of my digital imaging class from 6-7:50.

Thursday- is exactly the same as tuesday.

Friday- At 9 I have my Art Orientation class, which introduces students to the art program and also to OSU in general. Then at noon I have anthropology again. We have an in class discussion and homework is due so I actually have to show up to this one haha.

Monday and wednesdays I want to take a Book of Mormon class at the institute...I just need to register.

So, that's my schedule in a nutshell. Things have been going pretty well classwise. I've been getting my homework done and getting to class on time. None of my classes are super intense, but the workload is much different from high school. Not that I was expecting it to be easy, but it's taking some effort to jump start my brain after that 4 month summer vacation.

Our apartment is doing good. We are doing a pretty good job of keeping it clean. It will get a little messy during the week, but it doesnt take long to drive me crazy and it gets cleaned up. The weather has been a little wet lately, but that can only be expected. Not much else has been going on in my life. I have been meeting quite a few people, and overall my college experience is a success thus far! We'll see how long it lasts...ha.

*Side note- I made fried chicken and mashed potatoes tonight for dinner! We usually make dinner every night, but I was feeling extra ambitious. It turned out really well! It totally hit the spot. The only downside is that we don't have a potato masher...so I have to use a whisk haha. As you can imagine...it's not the best house hold tool to mash potatoes.
